I will graduate from Auburn University in May of 2015 with a bachelor's degree in public relations and a minor in business. In my time at Auburn I have learned many things about public relations, communication, marketing, web design and story telling. I mastered skills such as AP Style, crisis communication, digital style and design and creating surveys for clients, all of which make me a great candidate for any public relations job. Below I have listed relevant courses I have taken at Auburn University.
Style and Design: This senior level course teaches the basics of HTML5 coding, Adobe Creative Cloud applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Dreamweaver. The finished products from this class can be found on this website and on my blog. For this class, weekly articles were also written and published in Auburn Family, The Corner News and Extension Daily.
Case Studies and Ethics: This course focuses on past and present issues in public relations cases. Assignments for this course included writing weekly journals about public relations ethics in the current news and analyzing PR cases for their level of ethics and effectiveness.
Writing for PR: This course teaches and perfects the necessary writing skills for PR practitioners. In this class, I learned how to write a news release, an audio news release, a pitch letter, feature stories, an op-ed and a media advisory. In this class I also created a media kit that can be found on my website.
Survey Research Methods: In this course I learned how to draft a survey, collect responses and analyze the results using Qualtrics. My group developed a survey for Auburn University's Geology and Geography Department.
